We have all had awkward moments in our lives.  It’s a part of the human condition. Even the Bible can seem to have AWKWARD parts to it.  During this series we are going to be looking at some of the “awkward” parts of the Bible.  These parts can be AWKWARD because they can be hard to explain, they seem paint a bad picture of God, or at first glance they appear to contradict other parts of the Bible.

These are the passages that make people ask:
is God pro-genocide or pro-human sacrifice?
is God sexist?
is God pro-slavery?
is God someone who we should be afraid of?
Is the Bible anti-science?
Do Christians just pick and choose what laws they follow?

During this series we are encouraging students to bring their tough questions as we engage in scripture and find that these passages are not as AWKWARD as they first appear.

Week #1: That Awkward Moment with all the Genocide (October 12)

Week #2: That Awkward Moment with Sexism, Slavery, and Human Sacrifice (October 19)

Week #3: That Awkward Moment of Fear (October 26)

Week #4: That Awkward Moment with All of Those Weird Laws (November 2)

Week #1: Wonderfully Made (September 14)

This week we will be discussing how we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” by a loving creator.  The world will try to give us labels, but God looks at us as His beautiful creation.

Week #2: Made to be a Disciple (September 21)

Scripture: Isaiah 64:8

This week we will be discussing how as Christ Followers we are called to be the “clay” in the hands of the master “potter”, God.   A big part of our faith journey with Jesus is allowing Him to continue to form us and chip away things in our lives that are not His will.  This is what being a disciple is all about.

Week #3: Made for a Purpose (October 5)

This week will be a “Family Room” format which is a mix of large group, small group, personal reflection, and interactive responses. We will be reflecting on the first 2 weeks of this series and responding together.
