In this series we will discuss what the Bible teaches about wisdom, tools to help us make wise decisions, how our choices have consequences, and what Jesus wants to do with our failures.
Week #1: How to Make Wise Decisions (January 21)
This week we are introducing the series on the difference between living a wife defined by wisdom and a life defined by being dumb. We will be discussing the characteristics of a wise person based on the Bible, and why living wisely is important.
Week #2: SnapThat (January 28)
In our Snapchat culture we like to think that our choices do not have consequences. However, that is just not true. This week we are discussing the consequences of unwise decisions to sin, and how to deal with temptation in our lives.
Week #3: Epic Fail (February 4)
Failure is a part of life, but Jesus wants to take our failures and use them for His glory. This week we are discussing how Jesus has used people throughout history who have failed many times, and what Jesus wants to do with our failures.
This past Wednesday Night (1/7/15) was the kickoff for 2015 at Elevate. We spent some time looking back at 2014, reminding us who were are as a community at Elevate, looking at what 2015 holds for the ministry of Elevate, and talking about how the students can make 2015 an EPIC year.
The 2 things that we focused on in making 2015 EPIC was getting in the Word of God, and sharing our faith. The students were encouraged to take a devotional (called “Simple Truth Bible”) home with them to use for their quiet time with God along with an insert to encourage them to stick with it. They were also given tools such as an Elevate sticker and a LifeBook. These were given as a way to help them invite their friends to Elevate and to share what the gospel is all about. These LifeBooks are also good for our students who are still questions what they believe.
Next week we start our series “Wis(dumb)”.
