Christmas is right around the corner!!
That means that we are starting to collect Operation Christmas Child supplies!! We are having a competition between the middle and high school students to see which Group can collect the most stuff for this project. The winning group will get their own Youth Event of their choosing. Attached is the approved packing list of Items. We will have designated bins for each group in the Elevate Room.

We are in the third week of our Elevate I Am Second series. This week’s video is about Jason Castro and his secret struggle with pornography. Jason, in this video, talks about his battle with pornography. He spoke about how it started small and grew into something that was in complete control of his life. Even to the point where he was not able to function without it. Jason also talks about the overwhelming cycle that this addiction was in his life. Later, Jason came to know the saving grace that is found in Christ by giving God everything in his life. Jason found hope and freedom through Christ and accountability with other believers who asked the tough questions.

Happy October! I hope that you are doing well. We have a lot going on here in Elevate but I wanted to take some time and Invite you and your students to LNC’s Spiritual Renewal Services this week this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 6:30 pm and Sunday at 10:00 am. The Special Speaker is Pastor Freddy Wright from Living Word Nazarene Church in Houston, Texas. Please join us for as many services as possible.
Don’t forget that this Wednesday, Sep. 27th, is See You at the Pole at your school. This is a time to pray before the school day starts for your schools and community with other believers from your school.

We are in the second week of our Elevate I Am Second series. This week’s video concerns Kirsten Haglund and her internal struggle about being enough. Kirsten talks about how she enjoyed and came to love competitive dance. But once she started to look around and see how others were accomplishing their goals and how they looked, she began to ask questions like, what do I need to be like them? What do I need to do to be better at dance? Through those questions, she developed this internal struggle with food that led her to anorexia. She convinced herself she was not good enough and had to go to extreme lengths to accomplish her goals. Later in life, she came to know the hope and Love of God through the Scripture and the witness of a friend who was just present.

This week, we will watch the Lecrae’s video from I Am Second. In his video, he talks about his conversion and what he was finding his validation in before he came to know Christ. He also is wrestling with what it means to have a faith of his own and not one that is not based upon his mother’s or grandmother’s faith. Lecra also discusses how God called him to use the gifts of singing and wrapping as a ministry to the people he was serving. Here is the link to the video for this week.

Hello, Elevate families,
This week, we will be starting our I Am Second series. This series is a bit heavier than the regular Elevate content. So, I would like you, as parents, to see and understand what we are going through and judge whether your student is ready for these discussions. Our goal for these next few weeks is to help open up conversations about sensitive topics affecting our students’ lives. We also wanted to show them what it truly means to live a life of faith in a world that does not put God first. In addition, we also want to help open up a conversation between you and your students—that way, you, as parents, can continue the conversation at home about what we discussed here in Elevate.
I will be sending out the videos on Elevateparents.org every Monday. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

Don’t forget that we have an Elevate parent meeting this next Sunday after service in the Johnson Center. We will be looking at the Elevate calendar, teaching topics and fundraising for the fall and winter of 2023. This meeting is for students and parents so please be in attendance for this meeting.
