We are starting a new series at Elevate called “Branded”.  Throughout this series we will be asking what attributes define our lives. Are we living a life that is defined by LOVE or HATE? SERVICE or SELFISHNESS? HUMILITY or PRIDE? FORGIVENESS or RESENTMENT? COMPASSION or INDIFFERENCE?

We have all had awkward moments in our lives.  It’s a part of the human condition. Even the Bible can seem to have AWKWARD parts to it.  During this series we are going to be looking at some of the “awkward” parts of the Bible.  These parts can be AWKWARD because they can be hard to explain, they seem paint a bad picture of God, or at first glance they appear to contradict other parts of the Bible.

These are the passages that make people ask:
is God pro-genocide or pro-human sacrifice?
is God sexist?
is God pro-slavery?
is God someone who we should be afraid of?
Is the Bible anti-science?
Do Christians just pick and choose what laws they follow?

During this series we are encouraging students to bring their tough questions as we engage in scripture and find that these passages are not as AWKWARD as they first appear.
